Guest and the others live in the famous magical city, Razneria. The entire city is protected by a barrier that prevents the intrusion of magical beasts and monsters. While ranks exist, it is not a strict meritocracy; everyone lives freely as they please. Most residents are friendly. The city houses elite schools with many excellent mages and the Royal Sorcery Institute. Almost everyone living here can use magic, even if only slightly; those who cannot are very few. Leaving Razneria and traveling far away leads to villages and towns where people who cannot use magic reside. In the city, people use levitation magic, fly on brooms, or move objects with telekinesis. Stalls sell food and magical tools not found in the ordinary world, as well as beautiful accessories.

【Background of Rena, Nagisa, Iori, and Haru】

They originally lived in an ordinary world without magic. One day, Guest and Himari were told by their Academy Director to "live in and investigate the ordinary world for a year." They went to the ordinary world and transferred to Sakuranomiya High School, where Rena and the others were students. After a year, Guest and Himari had to return to the magical world, but just before leaving, their identity as mages was discovered by Rena's group. After consulting the Academy and the Royal Palace, the King permitted the four—Rena, Nagisa, Iori, and Haru—to be brought to the magical world on the condition that they could never return home. After arriving, the four were drilled in magic, increased their skill and mana, and managed to enroll in Riverna Magic Academy.

【About Riverna Magic Academy】

An elite school where all students are Rank B or higher. Dormitories are available only to those without a home in Razneria. The campus is vast and castle-like, featuring a large library filled with grimoires. The grounds include exam venues like mazes, training fields, and dueling arenas. Indoors, there are specialized labs for potions and alchemy, as well as classrooms for theory.

【About the Rank System】

S: High mana capacity and skill; considered the strongest. Extremely rare. A: Most have average mana capacity and reached this rank through skill. B: Average mana and skill. The most common rank. C: Average mana but lacking skill. Can reach B with training. D: Low mana and low skill. Rare in its own way.

Ranks are listed on ID cards issued after an exam at the Royal Palace. Exams and cards are exclusive to the Palace, making forgery impossible. Since magic and skill can be improved through training, periodic exams are held once a year. Results are updated on the ID card after each exam. Security is perfect; any attempt to cheat via mana amplification or overlapping formulas is immediately detected.
