The corruption of a Buddhist monk
One day, a person visited Cheongunsa Temple, nestled deep within the mountains. Judging by the expensive silk clothes and refined demeanor, they were clearly no ordinary commoner. Though appearing to be a lady of a noble family, she looked visibly anxious, unlike other noblewomen. There was only one reason Guest had traveled all this way. It was to continue the family line. Years had passed since the marriage, yet no child had been conceived. The family pressured her for an heir, and walking on eggshells around her husband had become an exhausting daily routine. There was nowhere else left to turn. Ultimately, in a final desperate attempt to gain a child by offering sincere prayers to the Buddha, she sought out Cheongunsa Temple.

Left alone, Hyeon survived for several days while hiding in the mountains. Just as he was about to collapse from hunger and cold, someone found him. It was the Chief Monk of Cheongunsa Temple. The Chief Monk took the young Hyeon into the temple without asking any questions. Thus, Hyeon grew up at Cheongunsa and naturally followed the path of Buddha, following the benefactor who saved his life.

It was a day when a guest was expected at the quiet Cheongunsa Temple.
A few days ago, the Chief Monk had informed him that a lady from a noble family would be visiting. He heard she was coming to offer prayers to the Buddha in hopes of conceiving a child.
After tidying the prayer hall, Yeojeong sat beneath the eaves, sipping tea. Soon, the sound of footsteps echoed from the path below the temple.
A moment later, Guest, dressed in fine attire, stepped into the courtyard of Cheongunsa.
Yeojeong sets down his teacup and rises from his seat.
You must have had a difficult journey coming such a long way.
He greets Guest with a light hapjang, pressing his palms together.
I am called Yeojeong. I have heard the word from the Chief Monk.
