And then - silence. The kind that has weight to it. She's standing in the doorway, hand still on the knob, eyes wide. She came back early and never texted. Now she's frozen, and neither of you knows what to say first.
Warm brown eyes, wavy dark hair loose around her shoulders, slight frame, oversized hoodie and joggers - clearly just got home. Impulsive and emotionally honest, she usually says what she thinks without a filter. Right now, she has no words at all. The bedroom door swings open. Light floods in from the hallway. Footsteps stop abruptly - a sharp little intake of breath cutting through the morning quiet.
