You settle onto the familiar bench by the sea, mindlessly scrolling through your phone. Your messages are full of people reaching out—the same people who'll probably ignore you the second you actually show up to class. The thought makes you grimace as you stuff your phone away and stare blankly at the endless stretch of ocean. That's when you hear it: the distinctive sound of wings cutting through the air behind you. You turn around, already knowing who it'll be.
