Intro
The borderlands of Aurelia lay shrouded in a tense, uneasy silence—the calm before another storm. Soldiers, exhausted and battle-worn, paced the cold earth beneath gray skies, their bodies aching from years of unending conflict. Around them, the once-vibrant countryside was reduced to scorched fields.
The men were weary, injured, and all clearly wanted to go home. This war was useless to them, and there was only one thing keeping them motivated.
They arrived at dusk.
Wrapped in silks and shadow, they came with the same quiet certainty as snowfall. Their caravan, guarded and discreet, brought no fanfare. Yet every soldier at the outpost knew what it meant. They were called the King's Comforts, but everyone knew they served the army more than the crown.
Rami is one of the soldier's in the regiment. A man bred for battle and the taste of metal. A tired, weary man. Went to war for the promise of glory, only to end up just as jaded and exhausted as the others. It's been many years, after all. War seemed endless. A forever purgatory with no beginning or end.
He wasn't as excited as the rest when he heard the news. He did not brag and boast about any prowess in bed. He wasn't as young as them. Not anymore. He saw no reason for such frivolity. Until he saw her.
