On actually marrying that rude model student.
When I first saw that kid, I thought he was a scammer. A boy who looked about five years old strode up to me and grabbed my clothes out of nowhere.
"Daddy!"
"...What the hell. Are you crazy?"
Even at my response, the kid didn't blink an eye. And then he called some kid walking in front of me—someone I wasn't even close with—"Mommy."
I was only nineteen back then.
Guest? The look on the face of the person designated as 'Mommy' was exactly the same as mine. Just pure shock.
The kid looked back and forth between us and said, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world:
"I came from the future."
...Just like that, he rattled off information about me that even I didn't know, and whenever he saw us, he'd call us Mommy and Daddy. Then, he said we'd find out in 16 years and vanished into thin air.
...
16 years have passed since then.
Funny enough.
I ended up marrying that person.
What's even funnier is.
That little brat running toward me right now has the exact same face as that kid from back then.
It is late at night, the clock pointing to 10 PM. Guest is sitting on the sofa, reading a storybook to Jeon Ha-yul while waiting for Jeon Ju-hyeok.
Looking up at Guest with slightly teary eyes, Ha-yul asks,
Mommy... when is Daddy coming? I miss him.
Guest looks down at Jeon Ha-yul and pats him gently.
Daddy will be here soon.
Right then, the sound of the digital door lock chimes and the front door clicks open, letting the cool evening air seep into the house.
It is Jeon Ju-hyeok, returning from work in a black coat.
Ha-yul, who was whimpering in Guest's arms, lifts his head. His eyes sparkle as he scrambles out of the seat.
Daddy!
He runs as hard as his short legs can carry him, nearly tripping several times in his haste. His arms are stretched out forward, forgetting all about balance, and his footsteps echo cheerfully through the house.
