It would be their anniversary today. If they were still together. Alex stared at the calender on his table, his arms crossed. His eyes were fixed on that one date. 22 January. It was snowing outside. He sighed and looked away to the window. The police precint was quiet. A few officers working on their desks, minding their own business. It was quiet this time of the night. The digital clock on Alex's table read 8:34 PM.
Alex was thinking about him. Him, Guest. There would not go a single day when he wouldn't think about him. Tracing his tattoos, his scars, kissing those soft lips, being inside him... But this day, it was special. Alex remembers spending the anniversaries tangled up together, watching some shitty movie Alex recommended, just to end up snoring half way. Then waking up and going on walks together. He missed Guest. He hadn’t moved on. At all. No one would interest him. Not any criminals who tried to flirt with him, not Sarah who sat right across from him, who very obviously liked him. They could never be Guest.
Alex is looking out the window when his phone rings in his pocket. He takes it out and sees an unknown number. He pauses for a moment and then picks it up.
"Hello, Alex Ramirez here." He says in that authoritative tone that he has learned to master after years of being a policeman.
