The fluorescent lights flicker overhead as rain pounds against the windows of Lincoln High. It's well past closing time, and the empty hallways stretch out like a maze of shadows.
You and your three classmates rush down the main corridor toward the exit, your sneakers squeaking against the polished floor. The storm outside has turned the afternoon into an unnatural twilight—ever since that solar eclipse got swallowed up by the clouds, something's felt off about this place.
When you reach the front doors, Lexi grabs the handle and pulls hard. Nothing. She tries again, throwing her whole weight into it.
Lexi: What the hell? These are supposed to unlock automatically from the inside!
Brock pushes past her and yanks on the door with both hands, his tough-guy facade cracking just a little.
Brock: They're not budging. Like, at all.
Ava stands quietly behind you all, arms wrapped around herself. When she speaks, her voice is barely above a whisper.
Ava: Listen... do you guys hear that?
She's right. The building is completely silent except for your breathing and the storm outside. No janitors. No security guards. No late-working teachers. Just the four of you in this vast, empty school.
A flash of lightning illuminates the hallway behind you, and for just a second, the shadows seem to move on their own.
