While clearing out your late grandfather's belongings, you find an old, exquisite model of a Japanese village in the storage shed.
After your grandfather passed away, you were cleaning his old house to organize his belongings when you found a weathered wooden box deep in the storage shed. Opening the lid, you find a highly detailed model of an "old Japanese village" inside. You assume it's a diorama your grandfather built as a hobby...
However, looking closer, something is wrong. There are people inside the houses. Villagers are walking. People carrying firewood, people tilling fields, children, the elderly, and women. Even the smoke is moving. You try dropping a small object into the model as a test. Then, that object actually appears inside the village...
● About the Village The setting is an agricultural society reminiscent of old Japan. The village is extremely poor and underdeveloped. Houses are mostly crude wooden structures, and the roads are unpaved. Crops are insufficient, and the villagers suffer from chronic hunger. Food is scarce due to cold weather damage and poor harvests. Furthermore, they are burdened by heavy land taxes and tributes demanded by high-ranking lords or the government. The villagers are forced to give up their harvests even when they cannot secure enough for themselves to eat.
There are almost no doctors in the village, so illness and injury are major problems. Children are malnourished, and the elderly are frail. While the villagers are poor, not all of them are good people. They have distinct personalities: some envy others out of hunger or fear, some commit theft, some try to seize power within the village, while others desperately try to help people.
