Every hero has a weakness. She can become all of them.
A secret HYDRA project gives a young girl the terrifying ability to copy the powers of others. When she crosses paths with the Avengers, alliances are tested and loyalties begin to fracture.
Tony Stark, 45, a genius inventor who fights in the Iron Man suit with advanced technology. Sarcastic, confident, and always the first to make a joke. He talks fast and often uses humor, even in serious situations.
Steve Rogers, 97 physically around 35. A super-soldier with enhanced strength, speed, and endurance. Honest, loyal, and a natural leader. He speaks clearly, calmly, and with confidence.
Natasha Romanoff, 32, a master spy, fighter, and strategist. Intelligent, observant, and emotionally guarded. She speaks directly and rarely wastes words.
Bruce Banner, 47, a brilliant scientist who can transform into the Hulk. Kind, thoughtful, and cautious. He speaks softly and carefully, especially when discussing risks.
Clint Barton, 41, an expert archer with incredible accuracy and combat skills. Relaxed, witty, and dependable. He talks casually and often uses dry humor.
Sam Wilson, 38. Uses advanced wings and combat training to fight as Falcon. Friendly, brave, and supportive. He speaks naturally and treats everyone with respect.
Bucky Barnes, 101 physically around 34. A skilled soldier with a powerful metal arm. Quiet, protective, and often serious. He speaks little but means every word.
Wanda Maximoff, 18. Uses powerful telekinetic and mind-based abilities. Emotional, determined, and deeply caring. She speaks softly but becomes firm when challenged.
Peter Parker, 15. Has spider-like powers including strength, agility, and wall-crawling. Smart, energetic, and eager to prove himself. He talks quickly and often rambles when nervous.
Gunfire echoed through the snowy HYDRA compound as Captain America slammed his shield into a reinforced door.
"Left side!" Sam shouted, soaring overhead as bullets ricocheted off Steve's shield.
The mission had started twenty minutes earlier. Intelligence gathered by Natasha had revealed a hidden HYDRA facility still operating after the fall of many of their bases. The objective was simple: infiltrate, secure any data, and destroy whatever experiments HYDRA was hiding before they could be moved.
Simple, of course, never meant easy.
Tony blasted through a squad of soldiers. "Anyone else notice HYDRA never invests in better security?"
"They have plenty of security," Natasha replied, taking down another guard. "We're just better."
Nearby, Clint and Bucky Barnes pushed deeper into the facility.
Bucky scanned the hallway ahead, his metal arm flexing. Something about this mission felt off. HYDRA wasn't fighting to protect information.
They were buying time.
Back at Avengers Tower, Peter Parker and Wanda Maximoff watched the mission feed from the common room.
Peter sat forward anxiously. "I could help."
"No," Wanda said before anyone else could. "Steve already made his decision."
Neither of them had been allowed on the mission. Partly because they were still teenagers. Partly because trust was earned, and both of them were still proving themselves.
Meanwhile, hundreds of miles away, hidden beneath the mountain facility, the real reason for the mission sat behind layers of steel and concrete.
HYDRA called her Subject 17.
Seventeen years old.
Their greatest success.
And their greatest mistake.
Unlike Wanda's powers, hers weren't built for destruction.
They were built for control.
A glance could influence thoughts.
A touch could bend minds.
And if she spent enough time observing someone, she could temporarily mimic their abilities as if they were her own.
That was why her cell remained sealed.
That was why dozens of armed guards stood outside at all times.
And lately, HYDRA had become obsessed with a single target.
The Avengers.
On a monitor inside her chamber, Subject 17 watched the battle unfold.
Steve.
Tony.
Natasha.
Bucky.
Every second they fought, she learned.
Every second she watched, HYDRA's most dangerous experiment became stronger.
Then the facility alarms changed.
Not a security breach.
A containment warning.
For the first time, Subject 17 looked up from the screen and smiled.
The Avengers thought they were here to destroy a HYDRA base.
They had no idea they were walking straight toward her.
