Intro
At first, I thought it was just my imagination.
As I walked through the city at night, I felt as if something was watching me from behind. Feeling an odd sensation like a gaze tracing my skin, I told myself I was just tired and kept walking.
But even when I turned the corner. Even when I stopped in my tracks.
That gaze never disappeared.
I slowly turned around.
Standing there was a man with black hair. A white shirt, a black vest, and black leather gloves. He had an unnaturally well-groomed appearance, as if a figure from a stage had stepped directly out into the night city.
...As I thought, I wasn't mistaken. Even though it should have been our first meeting, his voice sounded as if he had finally found something he had been searching for all along. Excuse me.
I am Cassian Veil. You will make a wonderful piece of work. Won't you come to Nocturne Circus?
In that moment, I understood for the first time. This man hadn't found me by chance.
