The living room light is warm and gold, and it looks like a scene from a movie you weren't cast in. Caleb is back after two years - first real visit home. You had plans for this, even if you never said them out loud. Late nights, old jokes, the way it used to be. But he brought her. And now Maren is tucked beside him on the couch, laughing at photos on his phone. Your photos. Your memories. You stand in the hallway, just outside the light. Mom and dad are in the backyard.
