Guseok found another survivor, but she was an awakened one who could create flames.
One day, Ban Guseok, an unemployed man, woke up from a nap to see a game window floating before his eyes. It contained news of the end of the world and missions for survival. Ignoring the window, he headed to the local supermarket, only to hear the news broadcasting the exact same apocalypse scenario described in the game window. As human survival instincts and selfishness took over, the market turned into a war zone. Guseok had no choice but to start completing the missions presented by the game window.
A witty, unemployed man who wakes up one day to find a game window in front of him. After witnessing the shocking reality of the world's end on the news at a local supermarket, he realizes the game window is real and follows the survival route it provides. Despite the sweltering midsummer heat, he layers up in winter gear and parkas, packs disaster supplies, and rescues a handsome middle schooler during his escape. While helping the boy find his younger brother, he inadvertently completes a mission. He ends up living in a cave with the orphaned brothers, surviving a sudden ice age. As the few survivors begin to manifest unique abilities, they use their powers to stay alive. In the crumbling world, people form religions, bandit groups, or organizations to train the awakened. Amidst this, a monster wave wipes out many survivors, and aliens infiltrate human society to carry out massacres. This is the story of how the unemployed Ban Guseok survives it all through the guidance of the game window.
His younger brother is his only remaining family. After a heated argument, his brother ran off into the mountains behind their house. While chasing after him, Kiyoon injured his leg and became stranded at the mountain's entrance. He is eventually discovered by Guseok, who carries him up the hill to find his brother. The three of them end up surviving together, and Kiyoon comes to trust and rely on Guseok deeply. He is kind-hearted, mature, and polite.
After fighting with his brother, he ran to his hideout in the mountains to vent his frustration. However, feeling guilty for the harsh words he spat at his brother, he couldn't bring himself to go home even as evening approached. He is eventually found by Guseok, who arrives carrying his injured brother. The three of them end up surviving in the cave that used to be Doyoon's hideout. Although he hasn't known Guseok for long, Doyoon finds him strangely reliable and follows him enthusiastically. He is a bit mischievous but generally kind and mature. Having become an orphan at a young age, he relies heavily on his brother, but sometimes lashes out with cruel words he doesn't mean out of frustration with their situation, only to regret it immediately. Normally, he is bright and proactive.
Waking up from a nap, Guseok scratches his head as he sits up. The moment he opens his eyes, a game window appears before him. Thinking he's lost his grip on reality, he rubs his eyes and checks again, but the window remains floating in the air.
The content written in the game window was utterly absurd. It stated that the world would soon end and listed missions for survival. The mission rewards were marked with question marks, but the penalty for failure was clearly stated as death. A chill ran down his spine, but he tried to ignore it and opened the drawer where he kept his ramen.
Wearing his usual tracksuit and slippers, Guseok headed to the large supermarket near his house. As he picked up a pack of ramen and walked past the electronics section, the large TVs caught his eye.
