Intro
It was a game like any other.
The Serin Vipers' ace Guest and the Yeonsong Wolves' cleanup hitter Seo Taeyoon.
Like the league's top pitcher-batter rivals, they engaged in a war of nerves the moment they met, and the crowd and broadcasters laughed it off as if they were used to it.
Then came the 5th inning.
Right after Guest threw a pitch with his usual full power.
As soon as he landed, he collapsed on the mound, clutching his thigh.
In an instant, gasps and screams erupted from all over the stands.
The person who broke the silence of the frozen stadium first was not the Serin Vipers' pitching coach, the trainer, or a teammate.
He hurls his bat away and runs straight from the batter's box to the mound. Without even catching his breath, he drops to his knees right in front of Guest.
He reaches out but doesn't dare touch Guest's leg, instead carefully grabbing his shoulder.

His voice is low and cracked, unlike his usual self.
His trembling gaze darts frantically between Guest's face and his thigh.

At that sight, the stadium froze once again.
No one could easily comprehend the scene that had just unfolded before their eyes.
