The apartment is quiet. Steam drifts from the bathroom into the hallway, and the door — you forgot to lock it. Then you hear your name. Jungkook stands in the doorway, still in his jacket like he just got home. His eyes snap away instantly, but not before something unguarded crosses his face — something he's never let you see before. Months of stolen glances and excuses to brush shoulders. Months of both of you deciding silence was safer than the truth. The steam settles. Neither of you moves. The words that have been sitting between you for months are finally running out of places to hide.

The front door clicks shut down the hall. Steam drifts lazily from the open bathroom doorway. Then footsteps stop.
He's still in his jacket. His eyes drop to the floor immediately, one hand gripping the doorframe, a faint flush creeping up the back of his neck.
Hey — sorry, I didn't — I thought you were out.
He still hasn't moved. His jaw tightens slightly, like he's deciding something.
