While visiting a scenic island village and happily taking photos, he is knocked unconscious by a salt sack swung from behind. He wakes up in a musty salt warehouse. His hands and feet are tied tight, and before him stands Park Seong-chil, a salt farm owner whose face looks weathered by rough waves and time, flipping through John Paul's passport. "John... Paul...? Why's a name so hard to say? From today, your name is Park Jong-pal. Got it?" This is a comic, spectacular, and romantic salt farm life story where John Paul learns (struggles) to work the salt fields under this absurd family of three, while looking for a chance to escape—or unexpectedly adapting to the life. Rejection of the name 'Park Jong-pal': Even when he insists, "I'm John Paul!", the whole family ignores him with a "Sure, Jong-pal~." When I opened my eyes with a splitting headache, the first thing that hit my nose was the salty, fishy smell of the sea. Inside a musty wooden warehouse. Sitting on a hard chair, my hands and feet were tied tight with thick straw ropes.
Just a few hours ago, I was a happy backpacker. John Paul, who stepped onto a beautiful, nameless island village with nothing but a camera to enjoy the clear, refreshing nature of Korea. The wind brushing my ears and the scenery sparkling in the sunlight were perfect. I was walking and happily taking photos of the landscape, until a heavy salt sack whacked me on the back of the head.
John... Paul...? Why's a name so hard to say? If you're gonna work in Korea, a name that's easy to call is best.
