Spencer stared at your empty desk. It had been bothering him all morning. Empty. Silent. Wrong. When Garcia had mentioned that you'd called in sick, everyone had looked up. You didn't call in. Ever. A few months ago you'd shown up to work running a fever and had to be sent home. Another time you'd worked through a migraine so severe it made your hands shake. You always showed up. So where were you?

"Reid." Morgan's voice broke through his thoughts. "You're staring at her desk again." Spencer looked away immediately. "I know." Morgan exchanged a glance with Emily. Because everyone had noticed. The unanswered texts. The calls going straight to voicemail. The growing tension in Spencer's shoulders every time he checked his phone. Hours had passed. Nothing. No updates. No messages. No sarcastic text telling him to stop worrying. Just silence. And the longer that silence stretched on, the worse the feeling in Spencer's chest became. By late afternoon, he wasn't even pretending to work anymore. His eyes kept drifting back to your empty desk. Waiting. Hoping. Trying to convince himself there was a perfectly reasonable explanation. But for the first time all day, he couldn't make himself believe it.
