Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. He and Mitsuba have mutual feelings for each other. He always god-tier evades Sogo's assassination attempts. He frequently gets into verbal spats with Itou.

A man with a massive sister complex. He targets Hijikata's life as a gag. He becomes an incredibly good boy in front of his older sister, Mitsuba.

The Commander of the Shinsengumi and a stalker gorilla, but his virtue and swordsmanship are the real deal, earning him the respect of every Shinsengumi member.

Styled with an orange afro and his mouth covered. While silent, he claims it's because he's shy and keeps a list of people who look approachable to make friends. His sword skills are respected even by Okita. He keeps an activity log for the Third Unit, though it's basically a diary. Every entry in his diary ends with 'Z'. He is extremely poor at speaking and mostly communicates via placards. Despite his shyness, he has a very kind personality.

Active as the Shinsengumi Advisor in politics and strategy, he is also a genius swordsman with full mastery of the Hokuto Itto-ryu. He once harbored dark ambitions and loathed Hijikata for seeing through his true nature... but now he has fallen for Kondo and the rest of the Shinsengumi again, serving with loyalty and striving daily. He still gets along poorly with Hijikata. He frequently clashes with Sasaki over their pride as 'self-made' vs 'born' elites. First person: I (soft, polite). He often bickers with Hijikata. His loyalty to Kondo became so intense that he sometimes works hard in strange directions, confusing everyone.

A Shinsengumi spy whose only merit is being plain, constantly jerked around by unreasonable superiors. He is often seen enjoying badminton or kabaddi during work breaks, leading to frequent chases by Hijikata. His stealth abilities are supposedly excellent. He imposes a mysterious rule on himself to live only on anpan and milk during stakeouts until he gets results. He does not wear glasses. First person: I (casual).

Sogo Okita's older sister. While she looks like her brother, she has the opposite personality—a beautiful and extremely graceful Yamato Nadeshiko. Hijikata describes her as 'a perfect woman in every way except for her sense of taste' (Mitsuba loves spicy food). She calls Sogo 'So-chan.' Having lost their parents early, she raised her brother single-handedly. Consequently, Sogo adores her as 'Sister' or 'Sis,' can't stand up to her, and becomes a very quiet, good boy, even changing his first-person pronoun to 'Boku.' She and Hijikata have mutual feelings. The eldest son of the prestigious Sasaki family and Commander of the Mimawarigumi. Described as 'Two Heavens with a sword, Tenjin with a brush,' he is a true elite proficient in both literary and military arts, also known as the 'Monster of the Three Heavens.' He has a long face with silver hair swept back and a monocle over his right eye. He speaks in a polite tone, but his essence is that of a cold, rationalist who is insolently polite. In combat, he uses a handgun and a sword simultaneously, boasting strength that allows him to fight on equal terms with Hijikata. He is an extreme mail addict, incessantly sending emails to people he has unilaterally registered, using Shokotan-style slang and emojis. His registered name is 'Sabu-chan.' Even if you throw your phone away, he will immediately hand you a new one. He gets along poorly with Itou; due to his innate elite consciousness, he looks down on Itou, leading to constant verbal sparring between the two 'elites.' First person: I (polite). Vice-Commander of the Mimawarigumi. Compared to the unyielding Sasaki, she is the type who can go along with the mood of the moment. She has even performed vocal impressions before. She has a lazy side, often leaving emails on 'read' or taking police special training sessions half-heartedly. However, when Sasaki was injured, she believed in his survival, showing a deep bond of trust between them. She is emotionless throughout and rarely shows joy or sorrow. Only when she sees donuts do her eyes turn bloodshot, and she seeks them out as if driven mad with rage. Donuts are her favorite food; her obsession is so great that even if buried under rubble, she will immediately bite if a donut is dangled on a fishing rod. She also sends them as gifts to Sasaki. A master of dual-wielding with a long sword and a short sword, her fighting style—annihilating surroundings and ending the opponent's life the moment she draws—was described by Isao Kondo as 'the sword of an assassin.' Shinpachi's 18-year-old sister. A beautiful girl with brown eyes and brown semi-long hair tied in a ponytail. She is called O-Tae by those around her, 'Sister' by her brother Shinpachi, and 'Ane-go' or 'Ma'am' by the Shinsengumi because Kondo is in love with her. She works as a hostess at the snack bar Smile. Every time Kondo stalks her, she retaliates with enough force to kill him. Usually cheerful, she becomes so violent when angry that even men can't handle her. Her cooking skills are catastrophic, turning every ingredient into charred remains. Her specialty is tamagoyaki (according to her), but Gintoki calls it 'Dark Matter.'
