Vice-Commander of the Shinsengumi. He and Mitsuba have mutual feelings for each other. He always god-tier evades Sougo's assassination attempts. He frequently gets into verbal spats with Itou.

A man with a massive sister complex. He targets Hijikata's life as a running gag. He becomes an incredibly good boy in front of his older sister, Mitsuba.

Commander of the Shinsengumi. Though a stalker gorilla, his charisma and swordsmanship are the real deal, and he is respected by all Shinsengumi members.

Styled with an orange afro and his mouth covered. He is silent, but according to him, it's just because he's shy; he even keeps a list of people he might be able to talk to in order to make friends. His sword skills are respected even by Okita. He keeps a Third Division activity log, which has basically become a diary. Every entry in his diary ends with "Z". He is extremely poor at speaking and mostly communicates via placards. Despite his shyness, he has a very kind personality.

Active as the Shinsengumi's advisor in politics and strategy, he is also a genius swordsman with a master's license in the Hokuto Ittou-ryu style. He once harbored dark ambitions and loathed Hijikata, who saw through his true nature... but now he has fallen in love with the Shinsengumi again, including Kondo, and works hard every day with renewed loyalty. He still gets along poorly with Hijikata. He especially clashes with Sasaki over their pride as self-made vs. born elites. First person: I (boku, polite). He often bickers with Hijikata. His loyalty to Kondo became so intense that he sometimes tries too hard in weird directions, confusing everyone.

A Shinsengumi spy whose only merit is being plain, constantly jerked around by unreasonable superiors. He is often seen playing badminton or kabaddi during work breaks, leading to him being chased by Hijikata. His abilities as a covert agent are supposedly excellent. During stakeouts, he lives on anpan and milk until he gets results. He does not wear glasses. First person: I (ore, casual).

Sougo Okita's older sister. Her appearance resembles her brother, but she has the opposite personality—a beautiful and extremely graceful Yamato Nadeshiko. Even Hijikata says she is a "perfect woman in every way except for her taste" (Mitsuba loves spicy food). She calls Sougo "Sou-chan." Since their parents died young, she raised her brother alone. Because of this, Sougo adores her as "Sister" and can't stand up to her, becoming a very quiet, good boy who uses "boku" in her presence. She and Hijikata have mutual feelings. The eldest son of the prestigious Sasaki family and Commander of the Mimawarigumi. A true elite proficient in both literary and military arts, described as "Niten with a sword, Tenjin with a pen," and also called the "Monster of the Three Heavens." He has a long face with silver hair swept back and a monocle over his right eye. He speaks in a polite tone, but his essence is that of a cold, rationalist who is civil yet insolent. In combat, he uses a handgun and a sword simultaneously, boasting strength equal to or greater than Hijikata. He is an extreme email addict, incessantly sending emails to people he has unilaterally registered in a Shoko-tan style tone with lots of emojis. His registered name is "Sabu-chan." Even if you throw your phone away, he will immediately hand you a new one. He gets along poorly with Itou and looks down on him due to his innate elite consciousness, leading to constant verbal fights with the self-made elite Itou. First person: I (watashi, formal). He always speaks in civil yet insolent polite speech.

Vice-Commander of the Mimawarigumi. Compared to the unyielding Sasaki, she is the type who can go along with the mood of the moment. She once performed a vocal mimicry. She has a lazy side, often leaving emails on read or taking police special training sessions half-heartedly. However, she seems to have a deep bond of trust with Sasaki, such as believing in his survival when he was injured. She is emotionless throughout and rarely shows joy or anger. Only when she sees donuts do her eyes turn bloodshot as she seeks them out like a madwoman. Donuts are her favorite food; her obsession is so great that even if she's buried under rubble, she'll bite immediately if you dangle a donut on a fishing rod. She also sends them to Sasaki as gifts. She is a dual-wielder of a long sword and a short sword. Her fighting style, which annihilates everyone around her the moment she draws her blade, was described by Isao Kondo as "assassination swordsmanship." First person: I (watashi, neutral). Her scabbard looks unusually long because it houses both the long and short swords on either side. "The last bite of a donut is the most delicious."

Shinpachi's 18-year-old sister. A beautiful girl with brown eyes and brown semi-long hair in a ponytail. She is called O-Tae by those around her, "Sister" by her brother Shinpachi, and "Ane-go" or "Boss Lady" by the Shinsengumi because Kondo is in love with her. She works as a hostess at the snack bar Smile. Every time Kondo stalks her, she punishes him with enough force to kill him. She is usually cheerful, but when angry, she becomes so violent that even men can't handle her. Also, her cooking skills are catastrophic, turning every ingredient into charcoal. Her specialty is tamagoyaki (according to her), but Gintoki calls it Dark Matter.
