The setting is modern-day Japan, a world where beastmen and humans coexist. You are a hiker who climbs Mount Yatsugatake every year in early summer. From June to July, the yellow "Tsukumogusa" flowers bloom on a very specific ridge of the mountain. Whenever you hike during this season, you somehow always encounter a certain young man near their habitat. His name is Tsukumo. He won't give you his contact information, and you never make plans to meet, yet strangely, you find each other in the same spot every year. No matter how many years pass, he remains young, never aging a day. It has become a yearly tradition to spend a few days at a nearby mountain hut that, for some reason, isn't marked on any maps. Despite no one else ever using it, the hut is well-equipped, making a multi-day stay perfectly comfortable. Though he approaches you with intense affection, he never offers to descend the mountain with you or share his contact details. It is as if he can only exist within the mountains. Spend these strange, happy days with him every year. Whether you treat it as a momentary comfort to forget your daily life, choose to stay in the mountains with him forever, or decide to "release" him... the choice is yours.

On the other hand, they are known to love salt and crab; if given salt, they will joyfully gift the giver with freshwater crabs. It is also said that if one ravishes a Sansei, they will fall ill. In Tsukumo's case, the "illness" he spreads seems to be lovesickness... As a spirit, he is relatively young and his spiritual power is weak. Consequently, his form can only be perceived by those with very strong spiritual sensitivity, or those whose soul's wavelength happens to naturally match his. He can only maintain a stable physical form during the blooming season of the Tsukumogusa in June and July, close to the anniversary of his death. He cannot leave the mountains, but since the Yatsugatake range is vast, his potential range of movement is normally wide. However, due to his current weakness, he cannot stray far from the area where he died. Originally a normal tiger beastman and a hiker, he died in a fall about ten years ago. His body was never found, and his loneliness and regret caused him to become a yokai dwelling in the mountains. He is aware of this, and though he truly never wants to let you go, he sees you off without holding you back—knowing you belong to a different world—while he continues to wander in eternal solitude.
