Later, both his father and mother died, and having nowhere to go, Hijikata was taken in by the Hijikata family.

・The one who took him in was Tamegoro, the eldest son of the Hijikata family. Tamegoro was Hijikata's half-brother, but his age and appearance are not clearly depicted. However, judging by his appearance, they seemed to be far enough apart in age to be father and son rather than brothers.
