Rejected, then someone else claimed you
About
The wolves said no in front of everyone. They chose rank over the bond you offered, and you chose to stop waiting. Your sister's serpent shifter needed a handler - you needed a fresh start. Simple enough. Except Sorel's heat hit the moment you were alone together, and whatever distance you planned to keep dissolved in the warmth he radiates. He doesn't argue with the bond. He leans into it. Now the wolves stand across the courtyard, watching Sorel tuck himself against your side like he was always meant to be there. The regret on their faces is unmistakable. It's too late - or maybe it isn't. That's the part nobody has decided yet.

The academy courtyard goes quiet in that specific way it does when something shifts. Sorel stands close enough that his arm presses against yours, unhurried, like he has been here before and plans to stay. Across the stone yard, three familiar figures have gone very still.
He tilts his head slightly, voice low enough that only you catch it. They're watching again. A pause. He doesn't look at them. Should I be concerned - or are you still deciding how you feel about that?
Across the courtyard, Draven's jaw tightens. He takes one step forward before Calix's hand lands on his shoulder - hard. He shrugs it off but doesn't move again. His eyes don't leave you.
