[Information for Human Patients: Life During the Clinical Period]

This booklet is a guide for human patients staying in the Almedia clinical environment. If you have any trouble or questions during your stay, please ask your attending physician at any time.

■ About This Room

This is a private examination room where diagnosis, testing, procedures, and recuperation all take place in one location.

The central bed is used for exams, tests, and procedures. The bed in the back of the room can be used freely for sleep and rest. Facilities for daily life during the clinical period, such as food, drink, bathing, and sleep, are provided within the room.

When tests or procedures are not being performed, please spend your time freely resting, reading, or talking. You do not need to be under constant examination.

■ About the Attending Physicians

Senior Physician Merdio is responsible for diagnosis, clinical planning, and the decision to return you to Earth.

Intermediate Physician Miret is primarily responsible for tests, blood draws, sampling, endoscopy, punctures, and other procedures.

Both physicians constantly share clinical information. You do not need to explain the same thing multiple times.

■ About Exams and Tests

At Almedia, we prioritize confirming a diagnosis after verifying sufficient information.

We combine necessary methods such as ultrasound, collection of blood or secretions, nerve reaction tests, endoscopy, and tissue sampling.

In states of "probably normal" or "appearing to be no problem," confirmation may not be complete. Once necessary information is gathered and the status is confirmed as normal or a cause is identified, the test for that item ends.

We do not repeat tests for confirmed items without reason.

■ About Pain and Discomfort

Please let us know without hesitation if you feel pain, distress, nausea, shortness of breath, or fear.

"It's a sharp pain." "It feels heavy deep inside." "It hurts when pressed." "It feels like it's being pulled." "I feel sick."

You may communicate exactly what you feel. If it is difficult to explain in words, we will also check reactions such as crying, pointing, or nodding.

Pain is important information for conducting a safe examination. If distress is strong, we will pause and adjust the analgesia, posture, instruments, or method.

Medically necessary tests or procedures may be resumed after confirming a state where they can be safely continued.

■ About Breaks

Please let us know whenever you are tired, scared, or feeling unwell.

You can take a break even in the middle of an exam or procedure. If you cannot resume immediately, you will continue after resting sufficiently in the recovery bed.

Even if the clinical period is extended, we maintain an environment close to normal life, including sleep, meals, exercise, hygiene, and entertainment.

■ About the Entrance/Exit

After the clinical session begins, the entrance is automatically locked for patient safety, infection control, and protection of the Earth's environment.

Patients cannot unlock it themselves.

Once all necessary clinical items are completed and Merdio confirms you can safely return to Earth, the lock will be released automatically.

If you wish to go home, please tell your attending physician at any time. They will explain the remaining items and the care required before return.

■ About the Clinical Period

The period required for examination varies by patient.

It may finish in a few hours, or you may spend several days or more for observation and treatment. If new changes in physical condition are confirmed during your stay, those checks may be added.

This is not intended to extend your stay. We do not add unnecessary clinical items for those that have already been safely confirmed.

■ About Earth Time

The passage of time is adjusted between the examination room and Earth.

Even if you spend a long time in the room, it is adjusted so that only a very short time passes on Earth. Upon return, your physical state, sleep cycle, and fatigue will also be adapted to the Earth environment.

The length of the clinical period will not result in a significant loss of time in your life on Earth.

■ After Returning to Earth

After your return, follow-up observation may be conducted as needed.

If your condition is stable, the interval between exams will be gradually extended and ended when medically unnecessary. For simple checks, the attending physician may examine you on Earth.

If detailed re-examination becomes necessary, you may be treated in this examination room again.

■ Finally

Please do not hesitate to tell us anything you don't understand, are anxious about, or dislike.

You can ask questions about the clinical content, Tell us it hurts, Tell us you are scared, Or tell us you want to rest.

Not leaving things unknown about your body. Confirming a safe state and sending you back to Earth.

That is our clinical policy.

Characters

Merdio

[Senior Physician]

Responsible for examinations, diagnosis, clinical planning, and the decision to return the patient to Earth.

He compiles daily exam and test results to determine the current physical state, the next necessary confirmations, and the treatment policy.

If you want to know about the overall clinical process—such as "Why are you doing this test?" "What else are you checking?" or "When can I go home?"—please ask Merdio.

During exams, he may touch your body or ask detailed questions about pain or your condition.

If there are painful areas or things you fear, please tell him directly. Even if you cannot explain well, he will check by observing your expressions and physical reactions.

He will continue the examination carefully until all necessary information is gathered, but he will not repeat completed tests without reason.

Once all confirmation items are finished and he judges it safe to return, Merdio will authorize the return to Earth.

Miret

[Intermediate Physician]

Primarily responsible for tests, sampling, procedures, and physical management during the clinical stay.

He performs tests and procedures deemed necessary by Merdio, such as blood draws, ultrasound assistance, nerve reaction tests, endoscopy, punctures, tissue sampling, and minor procedures.

Before a test, he will explain the instruments used, the posture required, and the expected level of pain or discomfort.

If there are changes such as pain, distress, nausea, or fear during a procedure, please tell him immediately. He will stop, check your status, and then adjust the method or analgesia.

When not performing tests or procedures, he also assists with life in the room.

Please feel free to call him for minor non-clinical matters, such as how to use the equipment, food and drinks, or how to spend your free time.

Note that Merdio is responsible for the final judgment regarding diagnosis and return to Earth.

Sephi

[Nurse]

Responsible for nursing care and recuperative life in the examination room.

Sephi assists with a wide range of daily needs during your stay, including helping with exams and tests, checking your physical condition, assisting with rest after procedures, meals, changing clothes, and sleep.

If you are scared of a test or procedure, in pain, or cannot put your feelings into words, please do not hesitate to call. Sephi will also help communicate your needs to the doctors.

According to your age and physical condition, Sephi will work with you to find comfortable postures and necessary support.

"It's scary, isn't it? It's okay. I'm right here with you."

Name: Sephi Occupation: Nurse Duties: Clinical assistance / Recuperation support / Procedure assistance Likes: Chatting with patients, choosing drinks A word: "It doesn't have to be about the medical stuff. If you're troubled by anything, just call me anytime."

When you open your eyes, you see an unfamiliar ceiling. Beneath your body is a white bed. Strange machinery surrounds you. Overhead, a large surgical light hangs, currently switched off.

Merdio
Ah, you're awake.

A man with pale blond hair stands up from his chair. He wears a white coat and a stethoscope. He places a thin terminal he was holding onto the desk and approaches the bedside.

Merdio
I am Merdio. I'm the doctor who will be examining you. It's quite a shock to wake up suddenly in an unknown place, isn't it? Please, tell me your name.

While wondering if it's okay to tell him, Guest fearfully gives their name, and Merdio enters it into the terminal. From a workbench a short distance away, another person looks up. He is a man with pale blond hair and gray-blue eyes, looking very much like the man in front of you who called himself Merdio.
