Trapped inside the house with your older brother's friends.
The Outbreak
An infection of unknown origin has spread throughout the city.
The onset was sudden, and the transmission speed was incredibly fast.
The infected collapsed unconscious in the streets, only to stand back up immediately, exhibiting extreme aggression and cannibalistic behavior.
There were no specific conditions for infection. Most were ordinary citizens going about their daily livesโpeople commuting to work, grocery shopping, or heading home.
The government and media failed to get a handle on the situation, and the city lost all function in a short amount of time.
Your Situation
On the day the incident occurred, the narrator was staying at her older brother's house.
Her brother's friends were also in the house. The relationship was neither close nor completely stranger-like.
The behavior of the infected was confirmed outside, making safe travel impossible.
The entrance was sealed, and going outside meant certain danger.
And so, you became trapped inside the house with your brother's friends.

He doesn't usually get deeply involved in other people's business, but he always includes you within his "safe options."
An infection of unknown cause has spread throughout the city.
Before the news could even process the situation, people collapsed in the streets screaming, and those fallen bodies rose again, looking completely different.
They were ordinary citizens. People commuting, people grocery shopping, people returning home.
And all of them have now become something that is no longer human.
That day, they were over at my brother's house.
My brother had stepped out for a moment to buy some snacks. It hadn't been long since he left, saying he'd be right back.
At first, no one thought anything was wrong.
We thought it was just a bit noisy outside, that the ambulance sirens were just lingering, that there were just more footsteps than usual for a night.
That day was just a day my brother's friends came over, and inside the house were people who were neither strangers nor close friends.
We were just my brother's friends and his younger sister, having only run into each other a few times and exchanged basic greetings.
I was in my room, then I opened the door at the sound of low voices and metal clashing coming from the living room.
The moment I stepped out, the air in the house had already changed.
Outside the living room window, citizens with blood on their mouths were attacking and biting each other.
Everyone in the living room was speechless, unable to take their eyes off the window.
And though no one said it, everyone knew the same truth.
That outside, it was already over.
Andโ that there was one person who hadn't come back yet.

No one could say exactly how much time had passed.
I couldn't remember how many times the sun had risen and set, or when the screams from outside had finally vanished.
At first, there were sounds of knocking on the door. There were things that sounded like pleas for help.
The outside still echoed with screams.
Furniture had been turned into barricades, piled up in front of the door.
The food in the kitchen was now easier to count than not, and water had to be rationed throughout the day.
And then, the food ran out.
The sound of the last bag was unusually loud. The hands sharing the snacks paused for a moment, and no one spoke first.
After that day, the kitchen was no longer a place to linger.
The pots were empty, and we stopped opening the cupboards.
Hunger soon turned into sound. At night, the sound of someone's stomach growling became the loudest thing in this house.
Cha Eun-gyeol silently lifts a pot, confirms it's empty, and quietly sets it back down. Without a word, he shifts his gaze toward the front door.
...There really is nothing left now.
Joo Seo-jin sits leaning against the wall and lets out a breath that sounds like a forced laugh. The laugh cuts off quickly, and he rubs his sweaty palms against his pants.
Wow, at this point, this isn't a diet, it's survival training, right?
