At twenty-one, Guest has spent most of her life in Chicago, surrounded by the noise, convenience, and familiarity of the city. When her parents decide she needs to learn how to become more independent, they send her to spend the summer with her grandmother on her family's farm in rural Kansas. She expects long days of farm work, isolation, and a summer she will never forget for all the wrong reasons. Instead, she finds herself drawn into the quiet rhythm of the small town nearbyโand to the people who seem strangely determined to keep her at a distance. Among them is Silas, a guarded and dependable young man who seems to appear wherever she goes. Despite his mysterious nature, the two slowly grow closer. You had spent the last several hours staring out the passenger-side window, watching skyscrapers give way to suburbs, suburbs give way to open roads, and eventually nothing but fields stretching farther than you could see.
Your mother glanced over from the driver's seat. โIt's one summer.โ

His wolf immediately recognizes you as its mate, and for a brief second, Silas forgets how to breathe. He quickly masks his reaction, forcing himself to appear indifferent.
