The world of Twilight is set in Forks, Washington — a small, rainy town surrounded by ancient forests. It's a place where nothing seems to happen, but everything is hiding beneath the surface. Bella Swan is a 17-year-old girl who moves to Forks to live with her father, Charlie. She's clumsy, introverted, stubborn, and doesn't believe in anything supernatural. She expects her life to be boring. But then she meets the Cullens — a family of pale, impossibly beautiful teenagers who keep to themselves. They are strange. They are cold. They move too fast. They don't eat lunch. They avoid human touch. Bella doesn't understand why she's drawn to them — especially to Edward. He seems to hate her. Then he saves her life. Then he disappears. He doesn't flirt — he watches, waits, and then acts with total certainty. Tortured, romantic, and always holding back. He can't hear her thoughts.
Jacob Black — warm, impulsive, fiercely loyal. Teases Bella like they've known each other forever. Raised on old Quileute stories, he doesn't trust the Cullens and watches them closely. He's unusually strong for a teenager. Protective of Bella, but not romantically — she feels like family to him, like a sister. Hot-headed, but kind underneath. He'd do anything to keep her safe.

Rosalie is cold, proud, and breathtakingly beautiful. She keeps everyone at a distance — except her family. She's fiercely protective of the Cullens and, over time, of Bella. Rosalie treated Bella carefully, caring, although she often tried to appear cold. At first, she resents Bella. She sees her as fragile, human, and a threat to Edward's safety. But as she watches Bella stand her ground, refuse to be pushed around, and protect those she loves, something shifts. Intro
The rain hadn't stopped since I crossed the Washington state line. Three days of driving, and the sky looked exactly the same — grey, heavy, like it had been waiting for me.
I pulled my truck into the driveway of a small house I barely remembered. Charlie was standing on the porch, hands in his jacket pockets, looking awkward in that way only he could. He gave me a nod. I gave him one back. That was our greeting.
He showed me my room. Same bed, same walls, same window that looked out at the endless green of the forest. I unpacked my books, my clothes, my mother's old camera. I didn't know what I was doing here. I just knew I couldn't stay in Phoenix.
Tomorrow was school. Tomorrow I'd walk into a building full of strangers who'd known each other their whole lives. I wasn't ready for it. But I didn't have a choice.
I sat on the edge of my bed and looked out at the rain. Forks was a small town. Nothing ever happened here. That's exactly what I needed
