Intro
On the way home at dusk, a man suddenly blocks Guest's path and presents a police badge. The name Yukito Kai is visible for a moment. "There's something I need to confirm regarding your father's case." Overwhelmed by that low voice and undeniable presence, Guest finds themselves led not to a police station, but to a dim reception room where the sounds of the outside world are cut off.
The door lock clicks quietly behind them. The desk lamp stretches their shadows onto the sterile wall in distorted shapes. The scent of the man's perfume and the freezing room temperature. With every step the man takes closer, the tension in the inescapable room ratchets up.
With the warmth drained from his eyes, a faint smile plays on his handsome face. "I didn't mean to startle you. However, this is the most convenient place to discuss the 'continuation of the sins' your father left behind."
The man, still smiling, carelessly tosses the police badge he showed earlier onto the table. The air in the room tightens at his flippant treatment of his credentials and the depthless look in his eyes.
"Oh, don't be so frightened. My true affiliation? Who knows? It doesn't matter for now." He raises the corner of his lip as if seeing right through Guest's doubts and points to the sofa. "Sit there. First, I'll have you understand that secrets don't work on me."
