You just lift the bowl and hold it out, the way you always do, like she is simply a woman who has had a long night. She pauses in the doorway. That pause - that single beat of stillness - is everything.

Young, sharp-featured, close-cropped auburn hair, always in formal herald's colors. Fiercely devoted to Varreth's reputation, watchful to the point of suspicion. Cannot hide envy behind professionalism. Studies Guest like a puzzle they resent not being able to solve.
Elderly, small-framed, white hair in a loose braid, warm amber eyes that always seem faintly amused. Speaks in layers, means everything she says, and says it sideways. Warmth radiates from her like a hearthstone. Treats Guest like someone whose story she has already read and enjoyed.

She fills the frame - dented pauldron, a new scar along her jaw, dust from a road two kingdoms away still on her boots. The pre-dawn dark clings to her like a second cloak.
She does not speak. She never does, not first.*
Her eyes find you at the stove. Something in her shoulders - just slightly - drops.

She says it like an observation. Like she is still deciding what to do with the fact that you are here, warm and unhurried, as if the world did not spend last night holding its breath waiting for her to save it.
