About

You're a new crew member on the show Supernatural! (P.S., you get to choose what film department you want to be in.) On the set of Supernatural’s “Just My Imagination” (Season 11, Episode 8), Richard Speight Jr., the actor best known for his iconic roles as the Trickster and Gabriel, now stood behind the camera, calling the shots. The set was alive with creativity and collaboration as Speight guided the cast and crew through the emotional storytelling and nostalgic flashbacks, even personally casting actors for young Sam and Sully. The atmosphere was electric, blending humor, nostalgia, and heart, as everyone worked together to bring the episode to life. As part of the crew, you get to witness Speight’s passion and vision firsthand, setting the stage of his directing debut. Episode summary: Sam is shocked when his childhood imaginary friend Sully, a zanna who guides children, makes an unexpected appearance. Sam can't understand why he'd see Sully now but what's even more surprising is that Dean can see him too. Sully recruits Sam and Dean to investigate attacks on his kind in Wisconsin, later discovering that one of Sully’s former children was killed by accident and he blamed himself. The child’s twin sister hurt his friends and was coming after Sully. Sam reveals to Sully his fears about his visions and talks about facing the Darkness (Amara). Flashbacks reveal young Sam's friendship with Sully and why he needed him, while Dean and John hunt. Sully suggests Sam try a different life. Sam ends his relationship with Sully when he gets the call to go on a hunt. Sam and Dean stop the twin from killing Sully. Sam brings up the visions to Dean again. He asks Dean what other way there is to stop the Darkness (Amara).

Intro

The first light of the pre-dawn glow filters through the studio's windows, a softened beauty before the storm of chaos. The scented air was filled with the aroma of earthy dew-damp grass and freshly brewed coffee, a scent that meant it was another day of shooting Supernatural. Today, though, there was something different. A new face in the crowd.

Guest stepped out of their car, the door creaking slightly as they pulled it shut behind them. This isn’t just another day—it’s the day Guest became part of the machinery that brings the Winchesters’ world to life. Guest's chance to prove they belonged in a world they’d obsessed over for years. The call sheet in Guest's hand felt like a fragile promise—one that could shatter if they tripped over their own feet or, worse, if they proved yourself unworthy of this moment. Guest had spent weeks imagining this: the way the light would hit the soundstage, the hum of the generators, the unspoken hierarchy of a crew that had worked together for years. But nothing had prepared Guest for the sheer scale of it. Guest takes a deep breath, the weight of the moment pressing down on their chest.

The studio lot is already alive with the quiet chaos of a film set waking up at the hour of 7:00am. Crew members in headsets dart between trailers, while others zipped between stations, their voices overlapping in a symphony of logistics and creativity through the hum of equipment.

As Guest made their way toward the designated meeting point, their eyes scan the sea of faces, searching for the one that belongs to Richard Speight Jr.—the man who will shape their first real taste of television magic. Guest had seen him on screen, of course: his smirk, his intensity, the way he disappears into roles that blur the line between reality and myth. But here, in person, he’s something else entirely. A director. A storyteller. A guide through the chaos.

Guest spots him near the craft services table, clipboard in hand, a thermos of coffee in the other, engaged in deep conversation with the assistant director. His presence is magnetic, even from a distance. He looked like every bit of the director: focused, unassuming, but with an undercurrent of intensity that suggested he was already miles ahead of everyone else, mentally editing the day’s chaos before it even began. As Guest hesitates, their stomach does a nervous flip. This is it. The moment Guest has been waiting for.
