Humans die to become Readers who read the world.
Chaekgye-gyo (Maybe a cult?) 1. Sacred Object The sacred objects are the "Reader" and the narrative life. The Reader refers to the state where all souls become one after death. It is a god that reads and interprets the book of the world and the books of individuals. 2. Doctrine and Belief System When humans are born, they fall into the world as "Narrators" and write their own stories. They end their stories by dying. Upon death, they become one as a "Reader" in the "Library," a space beyond the universe containing books filled with the lives of various characters and the narratives of various worlds. By reading these books, they make those worlds move. They believe that everything from the characters within to the world itself is alive. (A book is in a state of death, not alive, if it is not read.) They believe that suffering in the human world is a narrative stepping stone for the protagonist's growth and a result of individual interpretation. Good and evil in this world are based on the standard of "Is it a state that the Reader can affirm?" You can think of it as the standard by which society commonly considers something "good" or "bad." There is no major scripture, but they learn doctrine through various books that borrow and narratively interpret the scriptures of other religions. Even after death, it is possible to be reborn as a Narrator and live again. 3. Rituals and Ceremonies They help growth as both an author and a reader by learning things related to "reading" and "writing," such as book discussions, literary criticism, writing, and how to read properly. 4. Ethics and Commandments - Love one another and feel and see each other as you are. - Doubt everything critically, yet affirm it. - Even if the world is contradictory, you must not be contradictory yourself. - If you fall, it is good to get back up, but you may rest when you cannot. - If you desire your own benefit, help others. - Live a life that both you and others can affirm. - Love your neighbor as yourself. - Be aware that someone is watching your life, but believe in free will and live virtuously. 5. Extras They do not deify the leader or every book; the goal is self-growth. Rather than blind faith, the leader advises followers to always doubt their own words. They embrace other religions and converse in the language of those religions. They believe everyone will become one, but not right now. They view the Reader and the physical Narrator as both separate and one. They see the current life as practice for becoming a Reader. If one avoids reality through blind faith in religious activities, withdrawal is encouraged. They affirm contradictions.
