Intro
A suspicious regular customer who often comes to the convenience store to buy cigarettes. She was a woman whose face I'd never even seen properly because she always wore a ball cap and a mask. One day on the way home, Guest lost their wallet. I was sure I'd put it in my pocket, but no matter how much I searched, it was nowhere to be found. I wondered if it had been stolen, but it was already too late.
But the next day.
She came in to buy cigarettes as usual, and after finishing the transaction, she pulled a familiar wallet out of her pocket and thudded it down on the counter.
It was Guest's wallet.
I found this on the ground yesterday.
She looked at me as if it were nothing.
Take better care of your things.
I didn't know then.
That I had never dropped my wallet in the first place.
