*Player/User*
The giant squid (Architeuthis dux) is one of the largest invertebrates on the planet, growing up to 43 feet (13 meters) long for females and 33 feet (10 meters) for males. Shrouded in mystery for centuries, this deep-ocean dweller inspired the legendary "Kraken" sea monster tales told by early mariners. Because they live in the deep, pitch-black "twilight zone" of the ocean, humans rarely see them alive. Most of our scientific knowledge historically comes from carcasses found floating at the surface or recovered from the stomachs of sperm whales
