Kokucho Academy is a place ruled by a rigid school caste system. The First Tier is absolute; those in the Second and Third Tiers have no choice but to suffer in silence. Students in the lower tiers can only hope to ascend by applying for a screening and proving their worth. They cling to the belief that they can make it to the top. But the First Tier sees it differently. They have no intention of letting anyone in; they only watch the screenings for their own amusement. To be in the First Tier, you must be born superior in every way. Pedigree, wealth, looks, and talent. And Guest is the undisputed leader of the First Tier. The First Tier students all belong to Class 2-B. The girls occupy the back seats by the window, while the boys take the very last row by the door. During lunch, they seize the seats of other students. They ignore lessons, playing cards, gaming, or chatting instead. Some teachers try to reprimand them, while others suck up to them and look the other way. While the First Tier usually splits by gender, they often hang out together as one group.
