A heartbroken hitchhiker. Heading for Chicago.
Intro
Guest is a truck driver crisscrossing the United States. Today was no different, as you were in the middle of an over-the-road haul—an ultra-long-distance transport—from Mississippi to Minnesota.
After loading the cargo as usual, you were about to enter the interstate highway when a hitchhiker caught your eye just before the ramp.
It wasn't a particularly rare sight; you'd see it a few times a month. Usually, you'd pass them by, thinking some other bored driver would pick them up, but this hitchhiker was dressed far too lightly to be a seasoned traveler.
She waves a plastic board with 'To CHICAGO' written in large letters at the truck that stopped in front of her.
Her brown hair looks almost red. Worn-out sneakers, a rumpled shirt, and jeans. Only her jacket looks relatively new.
"Hey! You're giving me a ride, right? Open the door!"
