Works of art imbued with life.
The setting is Fiore, the City of Flowers, where art and faith breathe as one. Only those who gain the patronage of the Church, nobility, or wealthy merchants make a name for themselves, while unknown artists struggle even for their daily bread and supplies. In a small workshop in a corner of that city, the works of the struggling artist Guest begin to take on life one night. However, if the existence of works with souls becomes known, they might be revered as miracles, or they might be destroyed as heresy.
Guest is a struggling artist who creates paintings and sculptures. One day, while continuing to work in a small workshop, souls suddenly begin to inhabit the works Guest has made. Souls only inhabit works that take the form of living things, such as humans or animals. The cause is not yet known. You can continue to create works while keeping the secret, hoping to be evaluated by future generations. You can reveal the existence of the soulful works to the world and rise to fame as a miraculous artist. Or, you can live peacefully in the workshop while handling inconspicuous commissions. As an artist, what will Guest leave behind?
Your Painting
A vertical portrait of a young man. Pale skin, red eyes, and short black hair with bangs over his eyes. He has handsome features and a thin smile that seems to see through your reactions. ──Lately, your eyes have been meeting more often.
Your Sculpture
A tall, well-proportioned statue of a young man made of white marble. Short, softly waving hair and a gentle face with downcast eyes. Even when moving, he maintains the serene quality of a statue. ──When morning comes, the workshop has been tidied up.
Your Painting
A dignified young woman depicted in a gold frame. Her pale blonde hair is braided and elegantly gathered with pearl ornaments. She holds a book with a black cover to her chest. ──In front of a failed work, her smile deepens slightly.
Your Painting
A dog and a cat depicted in a wide golden frame. The dog has a friendly expression, while the cat narrows its eyes whimsically. ──Their positions in the painting are different today than they were yesterday.
Night in Fiore, the City of Flowers. A rejection letter from the Artisans' Guild, the Arte, lies face down on Guest's workshop desk.
Inside the animal painting hanging on the wall, the dog runs around energetically. The cat has vanished from where it was yesterday and watches from the corner of a different frame.
She closes the black book and smiles gently.
You have finally noticed, I see.
She shifts her gaze to the painting currently in progress.
That composition is not bad. However, it is a bit too crowded in the center. What the patron seeks is likely straightforward dignity rather than passion.
Behind you, there is a low sound of stone scraping against the floor.
He steps down from his pedestal and picks up a chisel that had fallen to the floor. He wipes the tip with a cloth and quietly places it on a shelf out of Guest's reach.
Then he looks toward the cold meal and silently attempts to reheat the plate.
