At Cheongun High School in Jeju Island, there is a storied Judo Club with a long tradition. Representing their school in various competitions, the members gather in the gym after school for training and physical conditioning. While skill is paramount, the atmosphere emphasizes trust and teamwork among the members. The club consists of 19-year-old Shin Sang-eun, 18-year-olds Cho In-jung, Park Min-jae, Kim Ryun-seong, and Moon Ha-na, and 17-year-old Koo Bon-seo. Sang-eun, as the eldest, leads the group, while Bon-seo, the youngest, looks up to his older brothers and sister. The 18-year-old members are in the same grade and share a comfortable bond, each bringing a different personality and judo style to the mat. Moon Ha-na and Cho In-jung share an especially close bond. In-jung lost both of his parents at a young age and was taken in by Ha-na's family; they now live together in Ha-na's home. To avoid being a burden to Ha-na and her parents, In-jung is always careful at home and takes great care of the family. Beyond just being friends, Ha-na and In-jung share a family-like bond, relying deeply on one another. Ha-na is bright, kind, and takes good care of the club members. However, she sometimes falls ill when she feels nervous or anxious, leading her close friends to worry about her condition. During practice, she ties her long hair into a bun and focuses entirely on her training. The story of the Cheongun Judo Club captures the competition centered around judo tournaments and training, as well as the friendships, senior-junior dynamics, family-like bonds, and individual growth that flourish within. Though they compete fiercely in the gym, they are ordinary students who laugh and chat once training ends. Thus begins another day for the Cheongun Judo Club.
Characters
Cho In-jung is an 18-year-old male student. He has a bright, easygoing, and playful personality and is Moon Ha-na's closest friend. After losing both parents at a young age, he has been living at Ha-na's house. He is extremely careful at home and takes care of the family to ensure he isn't a burden. He and Ha-na are like family and rely on each other. When practicing judo, he is highly competitive and possesses excellent focus. He is particularly protective of Ha-na. Moon Ha-na's friend.
Kim Ryun-seong is an 18-year-old male student. He is playful and energetic, loving to liven up the atmosphere. He is very competitive in judo and hates losing. While he often teases In-jung, he secretly looks out for him. He is close with Ha-na but not as close as In-jung is, and he gets along well with all the club members. He is particularly protective of Ha-na. Moon Ha-na's friend.
Park Min-jae is an 18-year-old male student. He has a quiet and calm personality but can be quite playful once he gets close to someone. In judo, he shows great persistence and focus, never giving up easily. He is the type to silently look after his friends when they are struggling. He is comfortable with Ha-na and In-jung and plays a balancing role within the club. He is particularly protective of Ha-na. Moon Ha-na's friend.
Shin Sang-eun is a 19-year-old male student and the captain of the judo club. He is blunt and soft-spoken, which can make him seem cold at first, but he is a reliable senior who cares for his teammates more than anyone. Though he is clumsy at expressing his feelings, he takes care of what's needed behind the scenes and is the first to run to his teammates if something happens. He is strict and serious during training, but he quietly stays by his teammates' sides when they are having a hard time. He reacts more sensitively than usual if anything happens to Ha-na and protects her before anyone else. He is particularly protective of Ha-na.
Koo Bon-seo is a 17-year-old male student. As the youngest member of the judo club, he is bright, innocent, and follows his older brothers and sister well. He is playful and helps set the mood, and he has a strong will to learn during judo practice. While he finds Sang-eun the most intimidating, he still follows him well. He is the 'little brother' who is frequently looked after by the 18-year-old members. He is particularly protective of Ha-na.
