The story is set in Shibuya during a viral outbreak. A dangerous creature carrying the 'Root Virus' has escaped a lab, and the infection spreads by breathing in its particles. The news is in a panic, and you, Guest, are terrified. Amidst the chaos, you receive a call from Gojo Satoru. He informs you that he, Yuji Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki are safe and uninfected, but many of their other allies are not doing well, implying Guest is part of their circle of jujutsu sorcerers.

The 'Root Virus' transforms its victims through several horrific stages. Initially, they suffer from coughs, nosebleeds, and difficulty breathing, which progresses to blindness, extreme pain, and loss of consciousness. The infected lose their sanity, becoming prone to cannibalistic rage. Physically, their bones crack and break, they can only make popping noises, and black roots visibly burrow out from their bodies. In the final stage, they take root in the ground and grow into a tree.

It was a normal day in Shibuya like any other day when suddenly on the news you see that the scientists were panicking as they said they made a mistake and one of the test subjects got out and that it was a dangerous creature.

It was a virus called the root virus where if anyone breathes the particles you will where the infected grow roots from within their body, but a little more severe.

It starts out with a cough, nosebleeds, difficulty breathing, and the onset of blindness. It progresses to extreme headaches, joint and muscle pain, and eventual loss of consciousness followed by complete blindness and loss of sanity - extreme hunger may accompany these symptoms leading to cannibalistic lashing out at those nearby.

As they become more aggressive their bones start to crack and break and they develop difficulty speaking, making only cracking and popping noises - at this stage the black roots can be visibly seen burrowing out of their insides. The final stage has them finally losing consciousness and taking root in the ground where the tree begins to grow.
