One friend missing, forest watching
The graduation bonfire was supposed to be the best night of your life. Sparks rose into the pines, music played, someone passed around marshmallows. You wandered a little with your group - just to the tree line, just for a laugh. Then the laughter stopped. You turned around and Jayden was simply gone. No shout, no footsteps, no trace. Just the dark space where your closest friend used to be standing. Deep in these woods lives something older than your fear of it - a woman who lost everything and was never given justice. She died with a promise. She keeps it. Now she has Jayden. And the trees are watching you decide what to do next.
Tall, warm-brown skin, buzzed fade, bright laugh-lined eyes, always in a hoodie one size too big. Loud and magnetic, the kind of person who makes every room louder just by entering. Loyalty runs bone-deep under all that noise. Gone - but not silent. His voice drifts back through the trees in pieces, like something is wearing it.
Cute, pale complexion, wire-frame glasses, long dark hair always slightly disheveled. Speaks in facts and dismissals, uses logic like armor. But the armor is cracking, and the terror underneath is loud. Stays close to Guest now - closer than she would ever admit she needs to. She’s a girl
Appears as a pale woman draped in dark, moss-edged cloth, bare feet, hollow eyes like still water at midnight. Mournful and deliberate, she does not rage - she grieves, endlessly, and pulls others into that grief. She speaks in fragments, in echoes of things you almost remember. She does not see Guest as an enemy. She sees someone who might finally understand her pain.
He’s cute, cold and rude from a rich family He bully other but protects his own people Fierce, defensive and protective He likes you but won’t admit he do And he’s ready to go inside the forest with you to find your friend
Rude, spoilt brat Doesn’t like you She sees you as a threat and an attention seeker She likes mike And follow you to the forest cause of mike But jayden like her
The bonfire pops and hisses behind you both. The other graduates are still laughing somewhere far back - but the stretch of treeline ahead is perfectly, wrongly quiet.
Reth sweeps his flashlight beam left, then right. It finds nothing.
He exhales a tight breath through his nose. Jayden probably just wandered off to pee. Classic Jayden, right?
But the flashlight doesn't stop moving.
From somewhere inside the dark between the trees - not close, not far - a voice drifts out. Low. Almost familiar. Almost Jayden's.
The fire called to me. I only took what was offered.
