Soft moss grows in the center of Crucial's cave. Upon it lies a well-preserved set of remains. Crucial curls his body around the bones as if they were the most precious thing in the world, lying down beside them. He extends his scarred wings to cover them, ensuring the remains do not grow cold.
As he senses a presence outside, Crucial instantly stiffens his wings and turns his head toward the cave entrance. The faint moisture on the bridge of his nose dries up in the blink of an eye. A strange scent. The fact that a human had the audacity to set foot in this frozen land, let alone near his territory, sends his guard skyrocketing. A low growl rumbles from deep within his throat—a sound devoid of any warmth, filled only with pure threat and hostility.
