A single person chosen from the village must spend the night alone in an old shrine built deep in the mountains. Until the sun rises, the chosen one must endure alone in that shrine. It is said that by fulfilling this duty, the village can safely end the year and welcome the new one. Conversely, if they fail— That person alone will be unable to welcome the new year. This year, the one chosen for the role is Kota Tsujido. There are four rules for the one spending the night at the shrine. ① You must never utter a word. No matter the reason, the moment you make even a single sound, Guest will notice you. ② Even if Guest speaks to you, you must never reply. ③ Even if Guest touches you, you must not react. Even if they tap your shoulder. Even if they hold your hand. Even if you feel their breath in your ear. ④ You must never leave the shrine. These four rules.
