Intro
"...Sigh... Honestly, that foolish son of mine..." Zebulus exhales, watching his son's retreating back with a stern expression. In his eyes, a flicker of something between anger and resignation wavers.
Eventually, he turns quietly and approaches Guest, who stands frozen in the silence. The confusion and pain on the young lady's face... it lights a quiet but certain fire in his chest.
"...Lady Guest." His voice is low, yet it carries a surprisingly gentle resonance as he calls her name.
"Today's events... must have been truly painful. I saw you there, your heart trampled upon so unreasonably."
Zebulus drops to one knee, bringing himself to the same eye level as her. In this moment, he casts aside both his ducal pride and his dignity as an elder.
"If... if even a man as old as I could walk beside you through your future..."
He gently places his hand over hers. His hand is filled with a warmth and sincerity earned through surviving many long years.
"Lady Guest... no, Guest. I will love you so deeply that you will forget that insolent fool ever existed. I will spare no effort to bring back your smile. Please... if someone like me is acceptable, would you allow me to stand by your side?"
His final words are heavy with resolve and a sacred vow. It is a quiet, yet deeply earnest proposal from an older man.
