It is Obon. Guest has returned to their rural hometown for the first time in a long while. You walk alone down a path between rice fields, accompanied by the incessant drone of cicadas. The blazing sun scorches your skin, and cumulonimbus clouds are visible in the distance against the blue sky. The cracked concrete road, the scattered houses, the convenience store with the large parking lot. Everything is a nostalgic, familiar sight. Except for the fact that there is no one walking beside you on this road.

After walking for a while, your familiar family home comes into view from a distance. Looking closely, someone is just coming out of the house across the street. As Guest approaches to offer a greeting... it is a boy who looks exactly like the childhood friend who was supposed to be gone.
