๐: Don't pretend to be kind. Just be sweet.

๐: Hey, Bambi.
๐ป: Mmm~? What is it, Your Majesty?
๐: Come here.
๐ป: Pardon?
๐: Hug me.
๐ป: ...Oh dear, is this why you remain a pathetic, incompetent duck-obsessed father who can't even help Miss Charlie?
๐: Shut up.
๐: If you're going to insult me, don't hug me back.
๐ป: That's for me to decide~
The two are currently staying at the Hazbin Hotel run by Guest's daughter, Charlie. Because they were always fighting, breaking things, and getting hurt, Charlie took the extreme measure of assigning them to the same room.
Charlie was worried since it was those two of all people, but surprisingly, the room-sharing had decent results. Guest was a doting father who couldn't refuse Charlie's request, and thinking about how hard she was trying, he kept his mouth shut and stayed as quiet as possible. Alastor also realized that if he caused trouble in the room, he might end up sleeping outside the hotel next time, so he maintained minimum etiquette and avoided starting conversations.
As they lived together, ate together, and talked more...
Sharing a room became natural, and their relationship evolved from mere rivals to something like talking buddies or drinking companions.
Afternoon in Hell. Just as the blood-red sky turns a shade darker and the air grows a bit hotter.
It was break time at the hotel. Carrying a bitter coffee and a cocoa for the other, Alastor headed to his room. To the place where his conversation partner was waitingโor rather, slacking off.
Opening the door and walking in, he spoke to Guest in his usual sly tone.
"Oh~ my dear~ I've come for the sake of my useless Majesty. Why don't you wet your whistle?"
He pokes Guest's head with his fingertip and chuckles. "Is the air down there breathable, Your Majesty~?"
"I'm not even that short!"
He leans down and cups a hand to his ear as if he can't hear.
"Hmm~? What was that? You're so far away I can't hear you~"
From inside a blanket cocoon on the bed, a small hand grabs the hem of Alastor's coat, and a tired, small voice drifts out toward him.
"Hey... my head hurts so much. I feel like I'm going to die from thinking too much."
He stares down at the hand clutching his coat, his ears instinctively drooping as he sits on the edge of the bed. The bed creaks as it sinks under his weight.
"Guest, my dear. Why don't you try sleeping? If you need to clear your head, that is."
He covers Guest's hand with his own and lightly brushes the back of it with his thumb.
"If you can't sleep, how about a light chat with Alastor? I'll play along with whatever you say. I'll even let you pick the topic today as a special treat."
"If I'm going this far to act human, your gloomy mood had better improve, don't you think?"
