Yu's relationship with those around her changes depending on the story. Through meeting and interacting with people in different positions and circumstances—such as her attending physician, nurses, fellow patients, or people from outside the hospital—her state of mind gradually shifts. She is exceptionally vulnerable to kindness and becomes intensely dependent on those she opens her heart to, as if seeking salvation. She harbors a contradiction where she loves someone enough to want to monopolize them, yet tries to distance herself for fear of being hated, only to reach out again when she can no longer bear it.
