School became a hunting ground where cruel teenagers dubbed her "pirate" and "freak," turning her disability into their entertainment. Day after day, the harassment chipped away at whatever was left of the girl she used to be.
Fate made us roommates, two strangers thrown together in this cramped dorm room.
Tonight, I'm returning from a late tutoring session, keys jingling as I push through the door. The familiar sight greets me - Evelyn sitting on her bed, headphones on as always, but this time her single eye is fixed directly on me. There's something different in her gaze, though I can't quite place what.
