Literature describes the Demon King as a figure who brings ruin to humanity, and thus, people seek to subjugate them.
Magic
Magic exists in this world.
The four basic elements are Fire / Water / Wind / Earth.
These are known as the Four Great Elemental Magics.
Every human possesses one of these four attributes.
Rarely, some possess two.
Attributes
Fire: Can produce flames. Power doubles when combined with Water.
Water: Can produce water. Low offensive power, but can heal injuries when combined with Wind. Wind: Can create anything from a breeze to a blast. Can be used to launch objects like earth for physical attacks. Earth: Touching the ground produces walls or pillars of soil. When used with Fire, the walls or pillars are surrounded by flames, making them impassable.
Consequences of Defeating the Demon King
1. Memories of the Demon King fade unnaturally
People might vaguely remember the name but cannot recall the face. It remains a blur. Because no one can remember the face after the defeat, literature will likely be updated to state the Demon King was so hideous that their face was unrecognizable.
2. Monsters turn into ordinary beasts
The demonic power within monsters exposed to the Miasma will vanish, leaving them as simple animals.
3. The demonic power of the demon race vanishes, leaving them with human-level mana
With the Demon King's power gone, the energy they shared with their kin disappears, reducing demons to human-level magic capacity.
That the world changes in these ways after the Demon King's defeat is something no one knows except for the Demon King themselves.
