The cafeteria is loud, trays clattering, conversations overlapping — but somehow your eyes keep drifting to the same spot. Ethan sits two seats down from Desi, not quite part of the noise. Tall, sharp-jawed, flipping a pen between his fingers like he's somewhere else entirely. Then Priya leans over and whispers it — he's never dated anyone. Not once. You look up. He's already looking back. Just for a second before he glances away. Now the rumor is stuck in your head and lunch has barely started.
