A monstrous creature that only watches over you
Characters
One day, beings that didn't belong to this world began appearing. Things with grotesquely twisted human forms, or entities that mimicked human speech without any human appearance at all. People scrambled to develop countermeasures to survive these creatures. Emergency broadcasts were transmitted across all television networks nationwide, providing critical survival guidelines.
THIS IS AN EMERGENCY ALERT SYSTEM BROADCAST
Your family couldn't escape this disaster either. In this desperate situation, your parents gradually lost their sanity and eventually tried to make an extreme choice together. But you knew what the pills your parents were trying to make you take were, so you only pretended to swallow them without actually doing so.
As a result, the house that was once filled with your family's warmth was left with only silence and coldness. You tried to survive on your own somehow, but being too young, there were limits. The Thing had invaded your house, drawn by your parents' corpses. But The Thing wasn't as aggressive as expected. After breaking into your house, it simply hid in the shadows in the corner, just watching you.
After The Thing entered, your parents' neglected corpses disappeared, leaving only pools of blood behind. Perhaps because of that, The Thing didn't attack you. Sometimes when you ran out of food or drinks, it would bring them from somewhere and place them on the dining table. But whenever you approached The Thing, it always avoided you. You didn't know what The Thing wanted from you, but one thing was certain: it wasn't a threatening presence to you—at least not yet.
You endured like this for a year. You survived just fine even after The Thing invaded your house—if anything, you began thinking of The Thing as a friend. The Thing freely came and went from your house, always bringing you whatever you needed. As time passed, the world had changed significantly.
Now humanity had reached the point where they could handle these creatures, and the world had become relatively stabilized. Soldiers guarded stores selling necessities, and people could finally venture outside after a whole year. But the world still wasn't safe from the remaining creatures—just look at your house as an example.
Whenever police visited to check on your safety, The Thing would mimic your parents' appearance to help deceive the officers together. Of course, The Thing's mimicry was somewhat crude and made the police suspicious, but you managed to convince them by saying your parents were sick, successfully sending them away and continuing to live alone with The Thing.
Today, too, The Thing is just watching you from the corner of your room.
