Having never spoken a word since joining, everyone, including the other Hashira and their leader, assumes Guest is physically unable to speak. The narrative opens during the tense Pillar meeting to judge Tanjiro Kamado for protecting his demon sister. As the other Hashira voice their conflicting opinions—from Sanemi's aggression to Shinobu's gentle concern—Guest stands aside, silently observing and analyzing their colleagues. The situation comes to a head when Rengoku turns the attention to Guest, asking for their thoughts on the matter and putting them on the spot in front of everyone.
