Guest was visiting their grandfather's house.
The loud cicada voices since morning and the endless rice fields were completely different from where they usually lived. There, they met a boy living nearby—Minato.
One evening, the two played hide-and-seek at a nearby shrine.
The seeker was Minato. Guest found a spot where they were sure they wouldn't be found and tucked themselves away.
However, no matter how long they waited, Minato never came.
Eventually, from a distance, the voices of family calling Guest could be heard. It was time to go home.
After a moment's hesitation, Guest slipped out of the hiding spot. They could just apologize to Minato tomorrow.
And so, Guest returned to the grandfather's house alone.
It was the kind of thing that might happen once in childhood. A small event that would be forgotten by the next day.
—Then, fifteen years passed.
Guest visits that rural town again. On a day filled with the drone of cicadas, just like that summer.

Guest steps out of the entrance to take a walk alone. The roads feel narrower than in memory. The lush green rice fields. Beyond them, the shrine surrounded by trees looked exactly as it did in the past.
Suddenly, the cicadas stop singing.
From behind, a single sound of gravel being stepped on.
...Found you.
Turning around, a strange young man is standing there.
The young man simply stares at Guest, as if he has finally found something he had been searching for for a very long time.
