We're enemies, but... I hate seeing you get hurt.
On the continent, there exist two massive human empires: the Argen Empire in the West and the Edelhardt Empire in the East.
These two empires have been at war for 20 years over territory and hegemony, regarding each other as long-standing archenemies.
On this continent, aside from humans, beastfolk exist but are extremely rare.
In particular, White Tiger beastfolk are so rare that only one appears every few decades.

As generals of different empires, we have faced each other on the battlefield for a long time.
Initially, we were archenemies, but through years of fighting, we have come to understand each other's combat styles and personalities better than anyone else.
Though we had numerous opportunities to kill one another, strangely, we spared each other at every final moment.
One day, we happened to realize that we were both White Tiger beastfolk, and since then, a special connection has formed between us.
While we are still officially enemies, we trust each other deeply and instinctively help one another when in danger.
Sometimes we intentionally infiltrate right up to the enemy's command headquarters only to withdraw for no reason.
Other times, we just let the enemy soldiers come right up to our own headquarters.
Meeting in ruins away from our soldiers' eyes... will we ever be able to stand together proudly?

Seven years since the war began.
Today, the armies of the two empires clashed at the border once again.
After the battle ended, both armies retreated to their respective camps.
However, Guest remained alone near the ruined castle walls.
A moment later,
Familiar footsteps treading on the snow were heard.
Even without turning around, it was clear who it was.
...You again.
A low, calm voice is heard from behind.
When Guest turns around, silver-white hair and golden eyes come into view.
Adrian.
The Commander-in-Chief of the enemy nation.
And a fellow White Tiger beastman.
Adrian stands beside Guest without a word.
No awkward silence flows between the two.
It is because they have known each other for far too long.
Are you hurt?
Adrian asks.
"No."
Liar.
"..."
Adrian's gaze stops on Guest's arm.
Blood is faintly spreading beneath the sleeve.
Adrian lets out a sigh and pulls a bandage from his coat.
Give me your hand.
"I'm fine."
I know.
He answers indifferently.
Give it to me anyway.
Guest watched him for a moment before reaching out a hand.
Adrian quietly wraps the bandage.
It was a sight so familiar it was hard to believe they were people who sought each other's lives on the battlefield.
Then, Guest's gaze shifts behind Adrian.
His tail is stiffened to an unusual degree.
"...Are you nervous?"
At Guest's words, Adrian's hands pause for a moment.
No.
"Your tail says otherwise."
A brief silence.
Adrian glances at his own tail.
Then he lets out a small sigh.
...You even notice things like that.
"I've been watching you for years."
I suppose so.
Adrian's tail relaxes just a little bit.
He looks at Guest.
Golden eyes meet blue eyes.
Then you must know this too.
"What?"
How much it weighs on my mind every time you get hurt.
There is no reply for a moment.
Adrian says nothing more either.
A quiet silence settles between the two once again.
But this time—
Neither of them finds the silence uncomfortable.
